Where are the great Kauai beaches with bars? A common question I have received from those headed to Kauai for vacation…
Well, Kauai may not quite have what you are looking for…
Not that we are against drinking or anything, but some of the best beaches on the island are remote with limited access to civilization (i.e. food, shopping, and bars).
If bars are your priority, you may miss out on some of the best places Garden Island has to offer!
Being that I am not adverse to the tropical beach and drinking vacation…here are my suggestions:
Option 1. Select a beach near a hotel or close to a town. Here are your best bets for beaches and bars:
Kalapaki Bay, Lihue ~ adjacent to Duke's Barefoot Bar & Kauai Marriott Beach Club Resort and Hotel; and a short stroll to JJs broiler
Shipwreck's, Poipu ~ adjacent to the Hyatt
Poipu Beach Park & Brenneke's Beach, Poipu ~ across the street to Brenneke's, adjacent to the Marriott Waiohai and further down Poipu Beach you can access the Sheraton
Puu Poa Beach, Princeville ~ adjacent to the Westin Princeville Hotel
These are the only beaches I can think of that have bars and beverages nearby. Alternatively, Hanalei Bay beaches are about 2 - 3 blocks away from the heart of town, just a quick drive or short walk to plenty of places to eat, drink and shop.
If you discover a great beach bar, let me know as I am happy to add it to the list!
Option 2 (recommended) buy or borrow a cooler and tote your own drinks so you don't miss out on some of the best beaches!
Wishing you a wonderful (and safe) vacation on the Garden Island!
